Art in Greenville, SC

Earlier today I went to the Greenville County Museum of Art which really isn’t all to shabby a museum considering that it is absolutely free to go in. I was particularly thrilled because the museum has a good collection of Andrew Wyeth paintings. The reason this excited me is because when my grandmother was still living back in Delaware she didn’t live too far from a cool museum in PA called The Brandywine River Museum which also has an extensive collection of not just Andrew Wyeth’s art but also his father’s (N. C. Wyeth) and his son’s (Jamie Wyeth) works. I remember going to The Brandywine River Museum many times while I was growing up and developing a strong appreciation for all three of the Wyeth’s works. Seeing Andrew Wyeth’s paintings today really sparked some nostalgic emotions for me. It was all really quite peaceful and relaxing, which I find museum visits to be in general. The Greenville County Museum of Art also currently has a very respectful collection of Jasper Johns artwork which is some really cool stuff worth checking out.
