The Witbier is a Delight
So I opened up two of my witbiers (bringing the total remaining bottles down to 20 — it was a small batch in only big bottles) last night and they were quite delightful. Both seemed to have achieved good carbonation which makes me happy because the bubbles are always really good. This beer has all sorts of Belgian quality to it. Amazingly it is a very sweet beverage, which surprises me considering how high the initial gravity was (over 1.080). The flavor is rich and sweet with strong fruit like flavors (specifically orange and bananna). I cannot say with certainty what the final ABV is (I forgot to take a final gravity) but I would be willing to put it over 9% making it, to date, the strongest beer that I have brewed.
Also got to try one of Brian’s IPAs on Sunday and Evan poured me a glass of his Oak aged Old Ale last night. there are some good beverages making the rounds right now. Can’t wait to see what we all brew next.
